A 32-year-old Mays Landing man was killed early Thursday when his minivan went off Route 40 and crashed in the Township of Hamilton, according to police.

Officials said police responded to the area of Route 40 just west of Hartmann Road around 1:15 a.m. after receiving a 911 crash alert.

Officers found a 2017 Chrysler minivan in the woods off the westbound shoulder of the highway.

Police said the minivan was traveling west when it left the roadway, struck a utility pole and continued before coming to rest in the wooded area.

The driver, identified as Kyle Johnson, was the vehicle’s only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.
