A Ringwood man faces drug-related DUI charges after Bloomingdale police investigated a reported crash on Route 287 South on Friday morning.
Bloomingdale police arrived at the scene around 6:30 a.m. following an abandoned 911 call and a report of a possible crash.
When officers arrived, they found a damaged pickup truck stopped on the left shoulder and partly in the travel lane. The driver, Daniel Eccher, 20, of Ringwood, appeared to be impaired and was given field sobriety tests before being arrested for DUI.
Police say a search of the truck turned up a suspected controlled dangerous substance believed to be cocaine.
Eccher was charged with DUI involving a narcotic or other intoxicating substance, suspected cocaine possession, and additional motor vehicle offenses.
