A fire that damaged a home in Linden has sent one person to the hospital and left a firefighter under observation.

The fire started Wednesday afternoon at a home on Miltonia Street.

"We had one person who was sent to St. Barnabas. Appears to be smoke inhalation maybe some slight burns but he appears to be in stable condition,” says Linden Mayor Derek Armstead.

Armstead says that one firefighter was checked out to make sure he didn’t have smoke inhalation.

It was unclear how the fire began.
