Mathis Bridge closing for scheduled deck replacement project

The Mathis Bridge in Ocean County is closed, and will be until next year to continue its deck replacement project.
Eastbound of Mathis Bridge/Route 37 will be closed through spring, shifting traffic onto the Tunney Bridge/Route 37 westbound.
The construction has continued in the fall through the spring over the past two years, only reopening for the busy summer season.
Schiavone Construction officially began shutting down the bridge at 7 a.m. Friday morning.
There will be no openings allowed for marine traffic from Dec. 1 through March 15, 2018.
The bridge will reopen for vehicle traffic on May 15, 2018.
