Marlboro Police Department adopts family in need for the holidays
This Christmas will be one a Marlboro family will never forget thanks to kindness from the community.
The Marlboro Police Department’s annual Adopt-A-Family program presented the family with more than $5,000 in gift cards, more than $1,000 of merchandise and a Chrysler 300.
The department says that this family had its home destroyed by Superstorm Sandy, forcing them to move around often. The mother of the family fell ill not long after moving to Marlboro and the father had to quit his job to take care of his wife and three children.
Marlboro Police Chief Peter Pezzullo says that he wanted to show the family that they are all in this together.
"Marlboro Township is our family. Our officers in blue, they're part of our family, all part of the community. But we're sort of letting you know, you are part of our family and family takes care of each other,” the chief said.
All of the donations for the program came from local businesses and residents of Marlboro Township.
