A man with more than 50 prior arrests was arrested once again in Jersey City, according to Port Authority police.
Port Authority Police spokesman Joseph Pentangelo says Michael Nelmes, of Jersey City, stole a 22-year-old woman's purse inside a Hoboken fast food restaurant around 1 a.m. Wednesday. The woman's cellphone was inside her purse.
Police officers were able to use the "Find my iPhone" app to track the phone to the Richard Street NJ Transit light rail station in Jersey City. Police say that they found Nelmes at the station with the victim's purse.
According to police, a computer check revealed that Nelmes had two outstanding criminal warrants out of Jersey City and more than 50 prior arrests.
His bail was set at $3,500 and he is being held at the Hudson County Jail.
