A man who was set to serve life in prison for raping and murdering a child has his sentence reinstated.
Andreas Erazo pleaded guilty in 2019 to the 2017 killing of 11-year-old Abbiegail Smith at the Hancock Arms Apartment in Keansburg.
An appeals court ruled last year that Erazo’s Miranda rights were violated, meaning he could have avoided a life sentence.
But the New Jersey Supreme Court overruled that appeal, reinstating Erazo’s sentence.
