The man who claims to be a key witness in the 1972 murder of 6-year-old Vincent Barbarino in Lodi discussed his role in the investigation Tuesday.
The child?s nude and battered body was found at a construction site 34 years ago. Police arrested the boy?s brother, Joseph Barbarino, Monday. Investigators say Joseph, who was 15 at the time, attempted to sexually assault Vincent and then killed him. Michael Barbarino, the brother of both the victim and the accused, says he will not support Joseph throughout the ordeal. Michael, who was 3 at the time, says he was present at the murder scene and claims to have provided police with information in the late 80s.
The Barbarino?s sister says Michael has been estranged from the family for years. She says she is planning on sticking by Joseph. Meanwhile, Joseph remains behind bars with no bail set. The next hearing is scheduled for December 6.
