Police have charged a man with shooting his neighbor's poodle, who then had to be put down, in Maple Shade.
According to prosecutors, William Stroemel, 64, of Maple Shade, used an air rifle last week to shoot the poodle.
The dog, named Toby, was found howling in pain along Greenwood Avenue in Maple Shade.

Authorities found pellets from the gun in the dog's head.
Police do not believe the dog was on Stroemel's property when it was shot.
Stroemel has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, among other charges.
Stroemel is in Burlington County Jail awaiting a detention hearing in Superior Court.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by the granddaughter of Toby's owners to cover medical expenses.
