An Ocean County wildfire that burned through 1,607 acres and closed portions of Route 539 is now contained, according to New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
The fire broke out in Bass River State Forest in Little Egg Harbor around noon on Saturday. Firefighters had it under control within 24 hours, according to fire officials.
Fire officials say all roads have since reopened, no structures were threatened and there were no evacuations.
A prescribed burn in February helped stop the fire from getting any worse, fire officials say.
No injuries were reported.
