Members of a Woodbridge family say they were shaken Sunday when a bolt of lightning struck their home.
Gary and Kathy Schwehr say they were watching television when they felt the house and their bodies shake. A light fixture blew out and fell to the ground.
Firefighters say the lightning struck the side of the house and traveled through a wire to the rear of the home where it did the most damage.
Chief John Hogan of the Port Reading Fire Department advises staying away from energized equipment, tall objects and not to go outside unless necessary.
