yesterdayA neighbor rushed into a fire at a two-family rental home on the 500 block of Prospect Avenue in Asbury Park Friday morning in an attempt to save a person trapped inside, the landlord said.
The Asbury Park Fire Department's battalion chief says the victim was found while crews worked to put out the flames. The person was taken by ambulance and rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and is in extremely critical condition.
The neighbor and another person were treated by EMTs. Their conditions remain unknown.
Fire officials responded to reports of flames around 11 a.m. The fire itself was brought under control in 25 minutes and is now under investigation by the Asbury Park Fire Department as well as Monmouth County prosecutor, the county fire marshal and the state Division of Fire Safety.
