The Kingston Rent Guidelines Board voted in favor of freezing rent rates.

The board voted 5-3 to freeze rents for more than 1,200 rent-stabilized households for the coming year.

This comes after the city's historic 15% rent reduction that was approved last year after a vote.

The board's decision upholds the status quo for Kingston tenants until the legal case over the rent reduction is resolved by an appellate court.
