Monroe Township police arrested a man who escaped a halfway house after responding to a report of a suspicious person early Thursday.

The call came from the 1100 block of N. Tuckahoe Road around 2:22 a.m., where police took 44-year-old Jerome Lindsey into custody.

Further investigation revealed Lindsey had walked away from a South Woods State Prison halfway house in Bridgeton on Wednesday and had an outstanding warrant related to the escape.

Police found Lindsey carrying various items they do not believe belong to him and are asking any resident who believes their vehicle may have been entered to contact dispatch and request an officer to respond to file a police report.
