Gov. Phil Murphy participated in a virtual roundtable with former Vice President Joe Biden and two other governors.
Murphy told the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee that New Jersey needs financial help from the federal government. He said that without billions of dollars in aid, a third of New Jersey’s workforce could be laid off.
Biden hosted Murphy, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, virtually for his home in Delaware.
Biden said that the governors were “exemplary leaders in a time of crisis” and thanked them for backing up front line workers.
