College graduation will be coming up soon. Usually, it is a son or daughter getting their diploma as the parents watch from afar.

But not this time: a mother and daughter will be getting their degrees together.

Latonya Johnson and Laila Birchett will be graduating from the Rutgers School of Social Work.

Mom took her first college course in 1999. It was hard to finish with her being a full-time mother, but she says she was determined to get her degree.
