Several are nominated, but only one can win. Lou Caruso, of the Allamuchy-Green Township First Aid Squad, won the New Jersey Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award.
Caruso has close to 50 years of volunteer experience. He has been honored several other times for his service and the Allamuchy-Green Township First Aid Squad, even named its operations building after him.
Caruso has also served as mayor and was on the town council.
