A police officer was injured while responding to a call early Sunday morning.
Police responded to a fight in Jersey City just before 3 a.m.
Officials say 48-year-old Alex Gerard of Jersey City stabbed a 39-year-old man in the abdomen.
When police attempted to apprehend the men, another member of the group, 42-year-old Jose Garcia, came after the police with an open blade, causing a laceration to an officer's arm.
Police say the group of men were intoxicated.
The officer was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for nonlife-threatening injuries.
The stab victim is being held for observation.
Officials say the men involved face a list of charges.
