A Styrofoam cup and cigarette butt led to the arrest of a man wanted for a 2012 killing.
Officials say Julio Torres was killed outside a Pennsylvania diner more than a decade ago.
A man named Jomaine Case was originally arrested for the crime, but it was determined that he did not do it.
The case was reopened in 2023. Police pulled DNA from a cigarette leading them to make an arrest.
Jersey City’s Vallis Slaughter has now been charged with murder in the case.
