A Jersey City couple is claiming they were wrongfully pressured by a deputy mayor to pay him for performing their civil union ceremony at City Hall.Jersey City Mayor Jerry Healy insists that by executive order, city officials performing ceremonies at City Hall cannot accept money. In fact, he says the only thing for which a couple having a civil ceremony in Jersey City should pay is a marriage license that costs $28. However, one couple says they were pressured by Deputy Mayor Ador Equipado to give him money and do business with his phone service company.Healy says as soon as he heard about the incident, he urged Equipado to resign, which he has.
