A man from Jackson Township has been indicted for murder, attempted murder and eluding police in a fatal stabbing.
Steven McNeil was arrested in May. McNeil is accused of stabbing two people in Toms River.
Raniek Mendez was killed and Roderick Seward was injured at a home on Adams Avenue. Police found McNeil later that day driving in Jackson.
An investigation revealed that authorities had responded to a call earlier that day at the same location because of an altercation between McNeil and Seward.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office says Seward fired a gun. He was arrested after a search of his backpack revealed a gun and cocaine, authorities say.
Seward faces weapons and drug offenses.
