Construction on Main Street in Asbury Park has finally wrapped up following three years of delays and parking restrictions.
The $19 million Main Street revitalization project slimmed the busy road from two lanes to one, adding a center turning lane, bicycle lane, and replaced lights.
The two-mile long state-funded project spanned from Allenhurst to Asbury Park, and is already receiving positive reviews from local shop owners.
"It's a lot safer,” says Tashianna Gayle. “We actually have directions. You know exactly what's what, where to park, how long to park, what time to turn -- it's a lot more organized, the street."
Gayle opened the Hair Haven salon a year ago, and since then, she's dealt with daily closures of parking and sidewalks as the project worked its way south.
