Hundreds of people gathered in Montclair Tuesday afternoon for a chance to meet former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Clinton was signing copies of her book “What Happened” at Watchung Booksellers on Fairfield Street. Dozens of people lined up outside the store to meet with her and get their copies of the book signed.
A portion of Fairfield Street, along with Watchung Plaza, was closed for a time for security measures.
Many of Clinton’s supporters posted signs of support in the area surrounding the signing.
“What Happened” depicts the events surrounding Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
The Associated Press reports that the Sept. 12 publication's hardcover sales of 168,000 was the highest opening for a nonfiction release in the past five years, as recorded by NPD BookScan, which tracks around 85 percent of retail print sales.
About 1,000 tickets for Tuesday's book signing were given out.
