There was a show of support Friday night for Ukraine in the Hudson Valley. A representative with the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America visited White Plains. It was part of an ongoing partnership with the Rotary Club of White Plains.

The goal is to support educational matters in Ukraine.

"Local support has been the backbone of support for Ukraine throughout this entire conflict," said Andrij Dobriansky, with the Ukranian Congress Commitee of America.

Through a partnership between the Rotary Club of White Plains and the Westchester Branch of the Ukranian Congress Commitee of America, students from a local school were able to connect with students at a school in Ukraine over Zoom.

"The rotary club in Ukraine found a school that was willing and able to speak with the students at Stepinac High School here in White Plains. The Zoom call was very poignant, it was emotional at times," said Jaroslaw Palylyk, president of the Westchester Branch of the Ukranian Congress Commitee of America.

People with both organizations tell News 12, it's the actions at the local level that are making a major difference in Ukraine.

"Obviously, while they need our help financially, militarily but probably just as important is the spiritual help to show them they are not forgotten," said Roman Kozicky, president & CEO of Suma Federal Credit Union.
