More than 100 of the nearly 300 dogs rescued from a home in Howell Township are being taken care of by an animal rescue organization in New Jersey.
St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center took in 141 dogs to their Madison facility to begin the process of vaccinating, spaying, neutering and de-worming the dogs.
Authorities found 280 dogs living in deplorable conditions in a Howell Township home last week.
The organization says the medical bills for all the animals could cost thousands of dollars.
Volunteers will now focus on finding homes for all the animals.
The Monmouth County SPCA police chief says a meeting is scheduled at the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Monday to decide how the dog owners should be charged.
