Elected officials are asking Gov. Phil Murphy to include Hopatcong in the NJEDA Grant Program as its businesses have been negatively affected by sinkhole issues on I-80.

Currently, only businesses within a 5-mile radius in Morris County can apply for the financial assistance related to the ongoing construction on the interstate that is costing businesses customers and money.

But three elected officials whose coverage area includes Hopatcong have asked the governor to also include Sussex County in the grant application process.

Hopatcong falls within the 5-mile radius, and the elected officials say its businesses owners are also negatively affected.

The letter to the governor was dated April 14.

There has been no response from the governor just yet.
