An 85-year-old Holocaust survivor from Morristown is using TikTok to share her story.
Tova Friedman is one of the youngest survivors of the Holocaust. She was only 6 when the Nazis sent her to Auschwitz.
Now, 80 years later, Friedman’s grandson Aaron is posting short videos of his grandmother’s memories on the
social media app. They have close to 500,000 followers and 75 million views since they started posting last year.
Friedman says that TikTok is a great way to get her message out to young people.
“It really snowballed, and then we realized it was a fabulous media for the Holocaust. The young people who don’t want to read the books, who don’t like the classes in school, who don’t like the way the teachers teach or whatever…here they are listening. And the questions! Very good questions, and I try to answer as many as I can or my grandson tries to answer,” Friedman says.
News 12 New Jersey previously featured Friedman in 2019 on a segment of “
Jersey Proud” for sharing her story with sixth graders at Leonard Moore Middle School in Roselle.
