Drivers in Hoboken experienced heavy traffic delays ahead of Thanksgiving due to the water main break earlier this week.
The water main broke Sunday morning and a 36-inch valve failed Sunday night, flooding streets. Workers have stopped the flow of water but are still working install a new valve.
Because of the complications, traveling for the holiday was made even more difficult. Observer Highway, one Hoboken's main roads, saw significant backups.
Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante suggests people use public transportation. Anyone traveling into or out of Hoboken is recommended to enter and exit on the city's north side.
