A group of Essex County cheerleaders is doing their part to spread positivity during the trying time of the coronavirus pandemic.
The group from Cedar Grove High School Started “Project Cheer Up” by recording uplifting messages or “cheergrams” that they can send via text or email to anyone who may need to smile.
“Since we're cheerleaders we're programmed to cheer up people and cheer people on so we wanted to make a virtual and free cheergram we can send all across the country,” says freshman Mackenzie Jennings.
The girls get about 200 cheergram requests a day.
“There are four different kinds of grams we send out. A happy birthday one, get well soon, thank you for your service and a general cheer up just to make anyone smile,” says freshman Sofia Cordaro.
The cheergrams are free. More information can be found on the Project Cheer Up Facebook and Instagram pages.
