A 36-year-old resident was struck and killed Thursday night while crossing Route 38 in Cherry Hill.
Officers responded at approximately 7:56 p.m. on Thrusday to Route 38 near Longwood Avenue following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Michael V. Mancuso of Cherry Hill was attempting to cross Route 38 when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel rendered aid at the scene, but Mancuso was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured, stayed at the scene, and cooperated with investigators, according to authorities.
Route 38 was temporarily shut down in both directions while the Cherry Hill Police Department Traffic Safety Unit conducted an on-scene investigation.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Cherry Hill Police Traffic Safety Unit.
