An art exhibit on display at the Bayonne Public Library highlights the dangers of distracted driving.

The exhibit features 100 pieces of art from Bayonne High School Students and was done with the blessing of Bayonne resident Pam O’Donnell.

O’Donnell lost her husband and 5-year-old daughter in 2016 in a crash caused by a driver who was on drugs. Since their deaths, O’Donnell has been on a mission to stop distracted and impaired driving. She says that she is touched by what the students have done.

“I’m excited. I’m overwhelmed. I’m hopeful that we can have a decrease in the number of fatalities in crashes,” she says. “And I’m just hopeful about what I’m seeing from the community and the students that are here.”

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Various New Jersey municipalities have announced crackdowns on distracted drivers and awareness campaigns about the dangers.

The art exhibit will be in the Bayonne library through Saturday.
