A United States veteran from Howell has accused Republican New York Rep. George Santos of stealing money for his dying service dog.
Richard Osthoff claims that Santos stole money that would have paid for his dog’s surgery in 2016. The dog later died.
“He’s got it all rehearsed. He’s an actor. He’s a con man. He’s heartless,” Osthoff says. “He just kept his charade up. I think he enjoyed toying with me and tearing my heart apart even more and more.”
Santos has denied the claims. The FBI is now investigating.
Santos has come under fire for admittedly lying about certain aspects of his life while he was running for Congress. He was sworn in earlier this year.
