Tropical Storm Hermine was still impacting the Garden State Tuesday as the storm system churned up water off of the coast.
Beachgoers reported seeing waves up to 10 feet high in Belmar with strong, gusty winds.
Most beaches are officially closed following Labor Day, but Belmar kept on a skeleton crew of lifeguards as a precaution in case any beachgoers were brave enough to swim in the choppy waters.
The rough waters caused beach erosion in several shore communities, including Spring Lake. The winds and strong surf also led to some mild flooding. A creek on Cedar Avenue in Manasquan overflowed into low-lying areas during high tide.
The effects of Hermine are expected to stay around until at least Wednesday.
