HEAT ALERT: There is a Heat Advisory and a Heat Warning in effect for parts of New Jersey due to the high heat and humidity creating dangerous conditions. The feel like temperature will be near 105 in some places on Friday. These alerts last until 9 p.m. Friday.
Today was a 10 out of 10 summer day - especially at the beach, where the temperatures were perfect. The water was very warm, and the sun was shining bright with a nice breeze swirling around the building humidity, so it wasn't as noticeable. If you looked up perfect summer day in the dictionary, today would have been it.
Tomorrow will feature blazing summery temperatures. Possibly record warmth in the forecast and extremely dangerous feels-like temperatures. Neighborhoods will "feel" more like 103 to 107 degrees for much of the afternoon. If you aren't lucky enough to be at the beach, the lake or the pool, air conditioning is the best bet.
A cold front will eventually make its way through the area by late tomorrow afternoon. With extremely buoyant air from the heat, the atmosphere will be primed for thunderstorm development.
Be weather aware between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thunderstorms will become more numerous and organized the further into the evening we get. The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts and dangerous lightning. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to possibly be struck by lightning. Head inside immediately.
Saturday is the best bet for the weekend. Mainly sunny skies, lowering humidity briefly and the rain threat is low.
On Sunday, the weather changes again. Cloudy skies keep the temps from reaching 90 degrees, but the humidity will be on the rise. Showers and storms will be developing later in the day.
