A New Jersey nonprofit group is stepping in to help provide affordable vacations for families with children who have disabilities.
More than 1,000 special-needs children and their families were treated to a day at the Jersey Shore, courtesy of the hundreds of volunteers with Shore Dreams for Kids.
"They're constantly putting into child care expenses," says Geralyn Monroe, president of Shore Dreams for Kids. "This is their vacation, their day at the Shore."
Nearly everything at the beach was donated, including speed boat rides - a pricey vacation item for anyone.
Shore Dreams for Kids will celebrate 14 years of operation in 2016.
