A Nassau restaurant severely damaged by fire earlier this year is ready to welcome back customers Monday.

The Greenvale Townhouse Diner has been closed since March.

The building was badly damaged by a fire caused by grease buildup in the kitchen, according to fire officials.

"I was seeing how I was going to reopen because it was a lot of permits involved it was a lot of equipment I needed to replace," says owner Theosevis Fereos. "Most of the kitchen had to be replaced. All plumbing, all electrical work, floors. Everything changed."

The owner says the renovations were about $2 million.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

The popular eatery is located on Glen Cove Road in Greenvale.

"It's like coming back home," says longtime customer Donna Cheheba.

"I think it's great. The place is beautiful," says customer Betty Ganiro.
