Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order Friday which
will automatically add residents to the state's registry if they plan to get
the COVID-19 vaccine.
Prior to the order, residents had to opt in to the system.
Now, they will have to opt out if they don't want to participate.
The governor's reasoning for the order is to keep close
tabs on the distribution of vaccine doses and to ensure people are returning
for their second dose of the vaccine, which is needed for it to work properly.
Anyone can opt out 30 days after the public health
emergency expires.
