Gov. Phil Murphy announced a second round of medical debt relief on Tuesday for 77,000 eligible people.
The state teamed up with Undue Medical Debt again nearly two months after they partnered for the first round of medical debt abolishment.
This time, $120 million in debt will be clear for those who qualify, which is $20 million more than the last round.
Earlier this year, the governor signed the Louisa Carman Medical Debt Relief Act, which protects people from debt collectors, safeguards families from accumulating medical debt and prohibits the reporting of medical debt to credit reporting agencies.
