Gov. Jon Corzine unveiled a $150 million plan Thursday to help New Jersey through the current economic crisis.
In his plan, Corzine wants to get started sooner on repairing roads and building schools, which he believes will create thousands of jobs for local residents. He also wants to expand the property tax freeze for seniors, spend more money on energy grants for residents struggling to heat their homes this winter and give cash to small businesses that hire new workers.
To pay for the plan, Corzine says he will cut spending.
Republican leaders have criticized Corzine?s plan, saying it is too expensive and that the governor should have supported their idea of reducing the sales taxes during the holiday shopping season instead.
