A Jersey City business is celebrating the fact that it has been in operation for more than a century. The General Pencil Company has been in operation since 1889 – 135 years.

The pencil maker teamed with Hudson County Community College to give students the chance to express themselves. Students’ artwork is now mounted outside the building as a new and permanent exhibit.

The General Pencil Company doesn’t only sell pencils. It also makes a variety of arts and crafts items.
