Commuters in Summit are learning their local Exxon station has the highest gas prices in New Jersey.
News 12 New Jersey found different area gas prices online at New Jersey Gas Prices, ranging from the highest to the lowest. News 12 New Jersey arrived to confirm that the Exxon station in Summit has regular gas for $3.39 per gallon, the highest statewide.
The owner of the station at Broad Street and Ashwood Avenue claims he has no choice. He says he must set the prices that high in order to make a profit.
Many local residents remain loyal to the station, citing its convenience and the excellent service provided. However, all the drivers who bought gas Friday agreed that prices are consistently too high, in Summit and all over the state.
The lowest gas price available in New Jersey on Friday was found at the Raceway station on Route 34, across from the Park Place Diner in Matawan, at $2.69 per gallon.
