Garwood police officers save man attempting to die by suicide

A resident of the Vermella Apartments on South Avenue called 911 to complain about body pain, but then abruptly hung up.

Three Garwood police officers are being praised for saving a man’s life.
A resident of the Vermella Apartments on South Avenue called 911 to complain about body pain, but then abruptly hung up.
The officers showed up and found the man on a balcony with an electrical cord around his neck.
When they approached the man, he climbed over the railing and tried to jump, but the officers pulled him to safety.
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
