The flooding in Bound Brook after the weekend nor?easter has many home and business owners growing tired of the mess and cleanup.
Borough and Office of Emergency Management officials are trying to orchestrate the clean-up efforts. They cut the affected area into three zones and are only letting people return to their properties after their homes or businesses have been inspected.
The weekend nor?easter left many residents with a feeling of déjà vu from Hurricane Floyd. Residents say the severe flooding destroyed their personal belongings and part of their homes. Restaurants lost hundreds in spoiled food. The recently renovated Brook Theater was also ruined by the floodwaters.
Many residents are convinced the only long-term solution to the flooding will be the completion of a flood control project, which has been stalled for lack of funding.
