A freight train traveling from New Jersey to Chicago derailed over the weekend in Pittsburgh.

According to a Norfolk Southern spokesman, seven shipping containers went down a hillside onto light rail tracks below.

The train was transporting housewares, food products and beverages.

The rail cars weighed more than 4,800 tons.

Crews estimate it will take days to clear the tracks.

"I don't know of anything having happened like this,” says Katharine Kelleman, CEO of Port Authority of Allegheny County. “Speaking to our transit police, speaking to one of our lieutenants that’s been with us 22 years, he’s never seen anything like this with Port Authority trains."

No injuries have been reported.

Authorities say the only spillage was mouthwash.

Officials are telling residents in the area if you smell something, it's Listerine and it's not hazardous.
