Security has been hiked at the Fort Dix Army base after details of an alleged plot to kill soldiers there have come to light.
The FBI says it learned of the plot through an employee at a Circuit City store in Mt. Laurel. Officials say the suspects tried to have a terrorist training video copied and the clerk alerted authorities. Their goal, officials say, was to kill as many soldiers as possible at the base.
U.S. commanders say basic security at military locations has been at the next-to-lowest level, but that has changed. Fort Dix officials say security there is tighter than ever before and people passing through checkpoints will be searched more frequently. There will also be a strict ID check.
Many residents who live near Fort Dix say the are concerned about the possible threat to the base.
Fort Dix says it is working closely with both the FBI and local law enforcement in the investigation.Click here for the U.S. attorney general for NJ's full press conference on the arrestsClick here for terror suspects? neighbors? reactionClick here for reaction at the pizza parlor where one terror suspect is allegedly connected to
