A former middle school teacher was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a student who was between the ages of 13 and 17, Bergen County prosecutors announced.
They say 46-year-old Amy Dovidio, of Pompton Plains, was a teacher at Garfield Middle School when she engaged in sexual conduct with a student.
An investigation found the sexual assault allegedly happened on school grounds, at a home in Cedar Grove and in a car at unknown locations in Bergen, Essex and Passaic counties, officials say.
Dovidio was arrested Friday in Paramus. She faces multiple charges, including first-degree aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment.
She will remain in Bergen County Jail pending her first court appearance in Hackensack.
