Lightning, wind, power outages
and flooding affected parts of Monmouth County overnight, including Eatontown,
where the Eaton Crest apartments were hit hard.
A number of residents saw
their vehicles destroyed.
“All the trunks starting opening up,” says flood victim Victoria. “I
guess so they can float. The electric was going crazy last night. It was
honking, it's just ruined, it's definitely done.”
The water on the road leading into the apartments has now receded, but
beforehand, dozens of cars were likely ruined by the flood waters.
“Right now, I'm frustrated because I don't want to call my insurance
company,” says flood victim Crystal Pryor. “It will spike my insurance up and I
don't want to take it to the mechanic because I just paid my rent and this
could be more damaged, so I'm confused. I'm trying to figure out what
should I do right now.”
News 12 did speak to someone in the apartment building office about the flooding.
Residents say the area floods often, but nothing to this extent. The person in
the office offered no comment on the situation at this time.
