It?s been 10 years since Tropical Storm Floyd wreaked havoc on downtown Bound Brook, but a project designed to prevent similar damage is still a year away from completion.
Floyd dumped up to 13 inches of rain and left parts of Bound Brook under 11 feet of water.
The Greenbrook Flood Damage Reduction Project costs about $450 million and includes 13 communities. About $100 million of the project is meant to prevent flooding in Bound Brook alone. The Army Corps of Engineers says the project should be completed by the end of 2010.
Some residents say they?re cautiously optimistic about the project, while others fear flooding will always be a problem.
