A Fourth of July fireworks display in Bergen County had to be abruptly ended when a firework went off inside of a tube, causing other fireworks to ignite.
Those who attended the show say that they knew something went wrong when they heard the explosion Thursday evening at the Ridgewood Independence Day celebration.
A spectator could be heard saying, “That was a mistake,” in one video posted on social media.
Another spectator told News 12 New Jersey that the pressure of the explosion could be felt in the audience.
Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke says that no one was hurt “due to the safety precautions we take.”
