Authorities say that a second person has died from injuries they sustained in a house fire in Kearny early Friday morning.

The fire was reported just after midnight at 56 Hamilton Ave. Officials say that firefighters found two people inside the home while fighting the fire.

Officials say Martin Wilson, 61, was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead around 1:20 a.m. Mary Beth Guenther, 58, was taken to Clara Maas Medical Center and was pronounced dead around noon.

Officials say that it appears that the fire started in the basement of the house.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known but officials say that it does not appear to be suspicious.
